A 12 Week Zoom Course, every Tuesday from 5 pm until 7 pm, starting on 16th September.
Unlock the timeless art of oil portraiture in this comprehensive 12-week Zoom course designed for artists of all levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to build a solid foundation or a more experienced painter aiming to refine your portrait skills, this course offers step-by-step guidance to help you create expressive, lifelike portraits in oils.
Each week focuses on a key element of portrait painting—from understanding facial anatomy and proportions, to mastering skin tones, light, and shadow.
What You’ll Learn:
- Week 1–2: The Skull: Foundation of the Face Study of the skull’s structure, proportions, and how it defines the overall shape and rhythm of the head. Learn how to draw and simplify the skull.
- Week 3–4: Study of Michelangelo’s David head—a classical masterpiece that offers profound insight into bone structure and proportions
- Week 5–6: Black and Withe study of a person, focusing on blocking in, simplifying shapes and value studies
- Week 7–8: Introducing colour mixing and rendering realistic skin tones, working with a reference of a older person and learning how to capture personality.
- Week 9–10: Embracing the challenge of capturing a young person, learning how to achieve softness in the expression
- Week 11--12 : Final portrait project, capturing personality, emotion, and likeness. Bringing life into the painting and adding final touches.
